What is The Amargol Banashankari Temple?
This temple dates back to the 13th century and was built by the Chalukyas. It is believed that Goddess Parvati came down to earth to kill a demon named Durgamasura. She was called Vanashankari meaning the goddess of the forest, now known as Banashankari.
The temple has Nagara style architecture and is a dvikuta shrine one housing the main deity of Banashankari and the other one has a Shivalinga.
The Navaranga Mandapa of this temple has beautiful pillars with carvings dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Shiva, and other gods. This temple is maintained by the Archeological Survey of India.
